Ok, so as many of my friends would know, I've been "dreaming" to fly since I entered poly. Or even way earlier.
I think its not only good experience but also interesting to see how far I can go with the "toughest interview ever" said by many people.
So yeap, crazily I went for my very first SIA interview on 13 April 13. (I just realised so many unlucky 13)
Being kiasu, I went slightly earlier and reached at 8.
Since it was my first time I didn't know really what to do but FOLLOW THE CROWD.
Ok, it sounds stupid but that's what people normally do!
Got my group number (I was in group 12) and was asked into the main hall to be seated and wait for my group's interview turn.
Saw many familiar faces and amazingly ALOT OF GUYS.
Well, I was sandwiched between two guys and its too awkward so I just sat and looked at the screen feeling SUPER NERVOUS.
So I bet many have already knew what will happen, there are 4 rounds of interview.
The first round is so called 10 to 2 or rather I called it MASS ELIMINATION ROUND where out of 10 maybe only 3 to 4 will "survive"?
Lucky me was the 10th person in the group! I had a male and female judge, and the female had a poker face.
We had to intro ourselves and was asked "what's you favourite fruit?" EASY RIGHT!!!
At first I thought I heard food, but once everyone started talking about fruits I realised I heard wrongly.
So the first girl whom stood up start the interview with french. YES I WAS LIKE "WTF NOW I STAND NO CHANCE"
And before me was a guy who was pretty sloppy and he really caught my attention.
His opening was "Hi im XXX and I SELL NASI LEMAK."
I really want to burst out laughing cause he's so random!!
And apparently the girl before that nasi lemak guy mentioned the same fruit as me. In my mind I was like "Siao liao la. Now sure kena compare." But I went ahead and describe my fav fruit still.
We were all asked to the lift lobby for the results. Here, I mingled with a girl for awhile before a guy came out with the results.
He called the names out and said "im sorry, you guys did not make it."
At that point I was like "omg? So it means I made it!" Sadly, out of 10 people only 4 remained.
Round 2 was height test. Here, I started talking to the girls and was already like "die lor. I scared I out sia cause im not tall enough!"
I was called out and had to stand in front of the candidates and everyone was like smiling at me!
Im pretty sure its because I looked too cute to resist HAHAHA. Joking. It was more like I was so short can! (Im 1.58m btw)
So after that I have to reach this line which was around 2m to see if I qualify.
Thankfully without much effort I managed to reach it!
However, over here a girl from my group who was more than 1.6m got kicked out as she couldn't touch the line no matter how she tried. Felt damn sad for her..
Moving on to round 3 for skin check.
This is the easiest for me cause I only have issue with moles.
I am very fair so I've got a bit of freckles and really quite a number of moles on my jawline.
Well, was quite a breeze for me except they told me I might have to cut my hair cause of my "elf-liked" ears.
Then last round! One to one interview.
Fortunately the 2 girls that passed the height round managed to pass skin check too.
So we chatted happily before I was called into the room first.
Because the girls came to interview before, they told me what was it like and how their previous interviewer was like.
Basically I went in the room with a blank mind? Was quite shocked im called first.
Then I sat down, and it started.
We talked a little bout how I prepared this morning and slowly she started asking things related to SQ like when working need to keep black hair, cannot post pictures and might even lose friends.
Then I had to read a passage and response la.
By the end she said "ok thanks peggy for your time. I wish you all the best and hope to see you again."
When I walked out I was like "ok lor gg I think no hope."
Then I sat on the chair waiting for results with5 other unknown people. The same guy came out with the results and called out 4 names. Mine not included. And said "thank you for coming, im sorry but you've not been selected."
Immediately I panicked, thinking it will happen too. But its was only after awhile then another lady told me and another guy "congratulations you guys are to attend a final interview at STC tomorrow."
I was told to wear more formal clothes as I looked casual that day.
With really a blank state, I left for work and prepared for interview the next day.
I was told to be at STC by 8.30am for my final interview. And I went there to a surprise cause there were so many there already! And everyone was really in smart formal!
I went in a flowery dress and immediately felt like going home.
Still I went ahead and was glad I did.
The final round was management round and kebaya fitting.
I was grouped with 5 girls whom I have impression from the first day. They were damn nice and I really felt lucky.
So we entered a room and immediately hit off. I was in group 3 by then and after 5mins we had to meet the judges!
There, we had to intro our partners and before we start the judges gave us some time to talk to each other again.
My partner got so nervous she blanked out.
I tried to help by mouthing some hints and asked her to calm down.
I mean in such interview the least you want is to freak out.
Then we moved on to debate. Guess what? The topic was H7N9.
WTH I SWEAR I DIDN'T EVEN READ ANYTHING RELATED. So my group mates was speaking speaking and I really had nothing to comment. Until I finally found a chance to elaborate on what one girl mentioned.
By then I realised my partner didn't speak so I tried to help again by asking "anything to add for you?"
I think I really just wanted to help her cause she is such a nice girl and it would be good if all of us made it.
The last part was passage reading. I thought I sucked but still I managed to read the passage smoothly.
We were told to wait outside for results, immediately my partner started crying. We tried to tell her she did well but I guess its hard ya.
So the SAME GUY I saw one first day came out again with results, and said "congratulations. You all made it."
We were like "you sure its the same group?"
He was like "ya, peggy right?"
For a moment he said like it was me who got through only but after adding on we realised ALL OF US MADE IT! HOW HAPPY AND LUCKY!!!!
So we screamed and hugged (like bimbos) and moved to kebaya round.
So glad my group mates weren't as crazy, we picked our kebaya and helped each other with the fitting.
Was called in with my partner for a final check.
Sad news is I kena KIV!
I was told my "bottom looked relatively larger" as compared to my top.
Had to lose some bottom fats before I come back for review in june.
I was already like "WTF my ass all along damn big cause of my bones. How sia now."
And the way she phrased her sentence makes it sound like I passed already, and see me in june.
Maybe I too hungry, I happily got out and changed and left!
It was only when I told my friend who was in SQ and she asked if I submitted my documents!
Anyways, I will just try my best for now. Im still glad I went and made so many friends.
Seriously when I told everyone they were laughing and some also say don't lame la. Like "ass how to slim sia" all those.
So whoever that really wants to try, go ahead!
But here's a piece of advice;
"DON'T READ TOO MUCH ABOUT WHAT THE INTERVIEW IS LIKE BUT JUST GO WITH A NORMAL HEART."
I believe if you read too much you'll definitely freak out. LIKE HOW I DID THE NIGHT BEFORE INTERVIEW.
Be yourself. and if you ever made it to final interview, show more teamwork. It will sure help. :)
Will end off with my cute face ! :p
I hope I hear some good news in june! Pray for me and be smile everyone! :D

Hey!
ReplyDeleteI just read your recent post, and realised that you're in SIA! Congrats! (:
Anw, I'm not sure if you've received my previous comment, because I think the comment didn't went through. Still, I am in the same position as you did before. I recently went for the SIA interview in January and was put on KIV after the Kebaya round. However, I received an email to come in STC for a review again next week and I am feeling really uncertain about myself and the comments I got for being on KIV. I was told nicely that I needed to tone up a left bulge on my hip which was caused by my pelvic rotation. However, I have been trying to tone it down but to no avail. I'm feeling really uncertain about the review next week.
I would like to know how your review went? Did the interviewer do the entire ritual or did she just focus on the area that you were suppose to correct? And what are the chances of getting through the review round even though the condition was not improved?
Also, I have mild scoliosis of 15 degrees, not sure if I will still be able to get through the medical round!
Hope to hear from you soon!
Hey scarlet!
ReplyDeleteAh now I understand what you meant by comments don't get through. Anyway I'm sorry cause I didn't know you commented on my post until someone else told me ok honestly all I did for the review was wear a girdle cause it will tighten the fats don't be too caught up in not getting to what they want until you forget to smile ok! Because all they want in the end of the day is someone positive and happy :) I hope you made it through, good luck and be happy always!
Hey Peggy!
ReplyDeleteNo worries at all! I'm so glad to hear from you! (:
Noted! thank you so much for your advice!
I'll be attending the review tomorrow. Super anxious. I hope everything turns out well! (: Fingers crossed!
Hahaha good luck and take it easy ok! Just remember to smile and be polite! Hope to see you one day! :)
ReplyDeletehello!
ReplyDeleteCan I check with you for your review, how long was it after? did they email you or you emailed them to schedule the review?
also do you have to wear the kebaya again or they straight check what was required(mine was KIV for my pimples on my face :( ) because I'm waiting for the review to and I have to idea what to expect :(
thanks!
Hi Cheryl, so many questions for you! I have been KIV too due to pimples so can I please ask you some questions?
DeleteJust wondering if SIA emailed you to confirm and schedule in a review? How long after your first interview did they take to email you?
How did your review go? Did you have to go through all the rounds or interview again for the review or just straight to kebaya fitting and checking your KIV issues?
Thank you so much!!!
